The Dutchman has enjoyed a solid first season at Old Trafford, but he does have one particular highlight.

Manchester United midfielder Daley Blind has been reflecting on his first season in England with the club’s official website.

The Dutchman signed from Ajax on transfer deadline day last summer and has made 28 appearances for manager Louis Van Gaal, having proven his versatility when playing in a number of positions, mostly defensive midfield and left-back.

He does, however, admit that things have got tough for him in the latter stages of the season, with him not having enjoyed the winter break that the teams in Holland are afforded.

"It was a good season for me," he said.

“There were a couple of games towards the end of the season where it was difficult, but I always worked hard, especially in the beginning until after winter, so I did quite well.”

United suffered an indifferent start to the campaign under new manage Van Gaal as the Dutchman failed to settle on a formation and line-up that could succeed.

However, they have rallied in the second half of the campaign to finish in the top four and return to the Champions League at the first time of asking, although they do face a play-off before they can plan for group stage competition.

There have been impressive performances throughout the season, with a win over Liverpool and Juan Mata’s double at Anfield a particular highlight. When asked what he has enjoyed most though, Blind has a different answer.

"Playing at Old Trafford,” he added.

“I enjoy it every time I get to walk down the tunnel and get on the pitch. Especially the top games against Liverpool, Arsenal or Chelsea. I also enjoyed Liverpool away. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the Premier League."
