Tottenham and Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Jonny Evans transfer reports

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with buying Manchester United defender Jonny Evans.

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans faces an uncertain future at the club with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly interested.

The Manchester Evening News reported Spurs are rivalling Everton for Evans' signature, with the centre-back failing to convince boss Louis van Gaal even before his recent suspension.

Evans has also struggled with injuries at at 27, United are said to be open to offers for the three-time Premier League winner.

He has made 14 appearances this season in the Premier League, playing more than 20 times just once over the last three seasons.

Jonny Evans 2013-2014 2.06 1.47 1 17
Jonny Evans 2014-2015 1.71 1.79 1.57 14

This season Evans, 27, has won a lower number of aerial duels per game than he has in the two previous seasons, but positively he has made more interceptions per game and tackles per game.

He however only has one year left on his current contract at United, with no extension agreed, even though young defenders Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair have received new deals.

A move to Tottenham would take him out of his comfort zone, where he would compete with Federico Fazio, Jan Vertonghen and Eric Dier for a place, while Spurs are reported by The Mirror to have already completed the transfer of centre-back Kevin Wimmer from Cologne.

The reports have not left Spurs fans enthused, with many sceptical over the value Evans would add.

Manchester United fans are more positive about a deal, feeling the time is right to part company with the Northern Ireland international.
