Southampton have held a long-term interest in Danish defender Boilesen.
The Dutch giants are planning on signing Mitchell Dijks to take his left-back position, and Ajax are keen to see the 23-year-old leave this summer with playing chances likely to become limited.
With his availability on the market, there is one club who should consider moving for Boilesen this summer - Southampton.
The Saints were linked with the defender in 2012 by the Mirror, but nothing came from that rumoured interest, although Ronald Koeman will be well aware of Boilesen’s talents from his time in the Eredivisie.
Able to play at both left-back and centre-back, due to being available, Southampton should make a move for the defender this summer.
He is young enough to keep developing upon his already impressive talent, and being a versatile defender he fixes a problem position for the Saints.
Ryan Bertrand looks well set to continue his left-back role for the foreseeable future, but it appears as if Toby Alderweireld will not return to St Mary’s Stadium from his loan deal from Atletico Madrid.
That has cerated an opening in the central defensive placings, and Boilesen has shown many times that he can prosper in that position.
He represents the ultimate Southampton signing, being a young talent who is no longer wanted by his club and will be available for a cut-price fee. He has already shown an impressive ability, and if allowed to prosper with consistent first-team football in a defence that is already strong, there is no judging just he good he may become.
