Rosler advised to rip up Redfearn's last work, a final insult or good advice?

Neil Redfearn's pre-season plans are to be scrapped for Uwe Rosler to prepare Leeds United how he wants.

Neil Redfearn's pre-season plans for Leeds United are expected to be ditched after Uwe Rosler was appointed as boss.

Redfearn is facing a demotion to the academy role he previously occupied, if he accepts it.

One of his final acts as head coach was to plan the pre-season, the details of which were never formally announced.

Asked if Leeds would be sticking to his proposals Adam Pearson told LUTV: "I think the pre-season will now be as Uwe wants it.

"We will completely look at that, change it, and do whatever the head coach requires to put in place the plans he needs."

The Yorkshire Evening Post had previously reported that Redfearn had organised a summer tour for July, with Ireland a likely destination, also suggesting opponents for domestic friendlies.

Redfearn had told The BBC: "I've got things in place that I want in place and I'm hoping that if I am here that is what we will do.

"I've had a lot of experience of doing pre-seasons at this level and I know what's needed."

There are two ways to look at the decision to re-evaluate and potentially rip up Redfearn's work. It could be setting up Uwe Rosler to succeed by allowing him to work in a way best suited to him, or construed as a final insult to the former head coach.

The change has as much to do with Pearson's appointment as it is Rosler, with the executive director making his own decision. It was chairman at the time Andrew Umbers who had requested Neil Redfearn plan pre-season.

As for Rosler's history of pre-season preparations, be warned.

Last year The Mirror reported Wigan Athletic having to cancel a friendly match in Germany at the last minute due to a lack of signing and injuries, with Rosler claiming his squad would be stretched. Unfortunately, as the paper reported, many Latics fans had already travelled and were left furious.
