Report: Three Sunderland youngsters, including Duncan Watmore, will make Premier League debuts against Chelsea

Sunderland have generally overlooked their more promising youngsters this season.

Sunderland are set to give three youngsters their Premier League debuts against Chelsea, according to a report in the Sunderland Echo.

With the Black Cats' safety now confirmed, the pressure is off and Dick Advocaat is said to be looking to use this weekend as opportunity to test out some of the younger members of his squad.

Duncan Watmore, Tommy Robson and Liam Agnew are all set to play against Chelsea, with the trio already told to prepare to play in the fixture.

That will be good news for Sunderland fans, who have been calling for the club to give youth more of a chance all season.

Watmore, in particular, has impressed for the under-21's this term and there is great excitement around his future.

The attacker has scored six goals in his last six games at reserve level and his direct approach makes him a different option to many members of their senior side.

The trio will now all be hoping to show their class on the biggest of stages, against the Premier League champions, and prove that they are ready for a more regular first-team role next season.
