According to Mexican newspaper Record, Arsenal have submitted a €10m bid for Espanyol defender Hector Moreno, who was recently linked with a move to Tottenham.
The Gunners landed Villarreal defender Gabriel Paulista from Villarreal in January but still have only three recognised centre backs, so manager Arsene Wenger may be keen to add one more this summer to give himself some more depth at the back.
Now, reports are suggesting that Arsenal have lodged a €10m bid to sign Mexican international centre back Moreno ahead of the summer transfer window.
Moreno, 27, impressed with Mexico at last summer's World Cup but suffered a broken leg against the Netherlands in the last 16 of the competition, ruling him out for six months and halting his career.
Now, Moreno is back fully fit, and has played 23 games for Espanyol this season, rebuilding his reputation - and prompting transfer speculation surrounding his future.
The Daily Mail recently suggested that Tottenham were pursuing Moreno, having worked under current Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino during their time together at Espanyol.
However, Record suggest that Arsenal have looked to steal a march on their North London rivals by submitting a €10m bid to land Moreno this summer, with the player no doubt seen as cover for the likes of Laurent Koscielny, Gabriel Paulista and Per Mertesacker, if reports are to be believed.
