Real Madrid winger Denis Cheryshev confirms his agent has received enquiries

Liverpool have expressed their interest in the Russian winger, who is about to end an excellent season on loan at Villarreal.

Ahead of the final match of the campaign in La Liga this weekend, during an interview with Villarreal CF TV, left-winger Denis Cheryshev offered his analysis on what has been another positive season for the club, having already secured sixth position and a return to the Europa League next season.

Whether the Russian international will be at El Madrigal next season, remains to be seen, given he's due to make his return to parent club, Real Madrid, after this last encounter of the season, away at Athletic Club Bilbao.

Clearly, the quality contribution Cheryshev has made, would suggest Villarreal will make enquiries during the summer, regarding a permanent switch from the Bernabeu.

Asked if he would welcome such a move, he responded: "If all parties reached an agreement, I'd be happy and delighted to stay at Villarreal. The people here have always shown me their affection, and I'd like to keep rewarding them with my efforts and my play."

However, there is an air of uncertainty surrounding where Cheryshev will be next season, given recent reports in the Daily Mail, suggesting that he's attracted the interest of Liverpool, amongst other clubs.

Questioned if he's already received proposals from elsewhere, the talented 24-year-old revealed: "I know Real Madrid haven't received any formal offers yet, but a few clubs have expressed their interest, to my agent."

Whilst that response indicates clubs such as Liverpool are making tentative enquiries, sounding out whether the interest of Cheryshev would be reciprocal, clearly he will have plenty of thinking to do this summer.

Already having enjoyed his spell with Villarreal, a permanent move isn't out of the question, but it would depend on the asking price set by Real Madrid, where he's unlikely to break into first team plans next season.

A move to the Premier League would certainly be a temptation, particularly to a club with the stature of Liverpool, for whom Cheryshev would be a valuable addition.

During the 2014-15 season, Cheryshev has been one of the most outstanding performers for Villarreal, making twenty-six appearances in La Liga, contributing four goals and nine assists. He also scored a further two goals in seven Europa League outings.
