Aston Villa fans react on Twitter to Delph and Grealish's end-of-season awards

The pair won the club's Player of the Season and Young Player of the Season awards, respectively.

Fabian Delph and Jack Grealish both proved popular choices for Aston Villa’s Player of Season and Young Player of the Season awards, respectively.

Delph clocked up 51 per cent of the votes to take home the club’s top individual accolade for the second straight term, beating out Christian Benteke [20 per cent] and Ciaran Clark [18 per cent].

The England midfielder has recorded two goals and five assists in 30 appearances and, while he saw a broken collarbone disrupt his progress earlier in the campaign, his performances in the centre of the park have since proved crucial to the team’s upturn in fortunes under Tim Sherwood.

In addition, Delph further endeared himself to fans after penning a new long-term deal in January to quash rumours of a potential summer departure, before taking on the club captaincy from Ron Vlaar amid their successful escape from relegation trouble.

Grealish, meanwhile, earned an even more impressive 81 per cent of the votes to see off Jores Okore for the other main prize.

The teenager struggled to break into the since-departed Paul Lambert’s side over the first half of the season but he has since flourished under Sherwood’s guidance, rewarding his new manager’s faith in him across seven straight starts with performances which have belied his age.

However, there was not complete agreement among Villa’s Twitter-based supporters over the two award winners, as the following reactions highlight somewhat.
