Speaking to the official West Ham website, defensive prospect Burke has admitted that playing against two quality strikers in particular has been the highlight of his season.
The young defender said: “I want to prepare well and finish off with a win in the last game of the season. Playing against Benteke and Lukaku in the last couple of weeks has been a great experience.”
Burke, a central defender, is considered one of the brightest prospects in English football, and he has now made four consecutive appearances for the Hammers in the Premier League, having started his first game in the 0-0 draw with QPR.
He has done much to impress at the heart of the Hammers back-line, and he looks to be a real prospect.
What has been most impressive has been the performances he has put in against top class strikers, despite his clear lack of experience.
He mentions Benteke and Lukaku as being the highlight to play against, and although the latter scored and assisted for Everton in their 2-1 victory over the Hammers, Burke was part of the defence that kept out Benteke against Villa.
He has also managed to prevent Charlie Austin from finding the back of the net, and will be keeping his place this weekend as West Ham face Newcastle.
It is an important came for the Magpies, as they look to fight off relegation, and Burke will likely come under his greatest test yet as the Tyneside club throw everything forward to score their way to Premier League survival.
