HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that West Ham United defender Alex Pike has agreed his first professional contract at Upton Park.
Pike has come through the famed academy system at West Ham and he is very highly-regarded within the corridors of power at the Boleyn Ground.
The 18-year-old has been converted from a midfielder to a right-back while coming through the youth ranks at West Ham.
Pike was a regular in the Under-18s side last season, but he has stepped up into the Under-21s this term, making 13 appearances for the development squad.
West Ham have now rewarded Pike with his first professional contract and the young full-back is tipped to be involved with the West Ham first-team in pre-season as he looks to break into the senior set-up next season.
Pike's Under 21s team-mate Reece Burke has recently broken into the first-team fold at Upton Park and West Ham will be hoping that Pike can follow in his footsteps.
