Tottenham Hotspur can move into fifth place if they beat Everton at the weekend and Liverpool lose.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Eric Dier has told the club's official website that he was impressed by Everton the last time the two sides met.

Tottenham last played Everton back in November and were able to beat them 2-1, but Dier considers the Toffees to be a top Premier League foe.

Spurs take on Everton this weekend and Dier is expecting a tough test, as his side look to claim an important three points.

“I’m sure they will want to finish on a high in front of their fans as well so even though it’s the last game of the season, there is still plenty on it," he said.

“I was quite impressed by Everton at White Hart Lane in November. We did well to beat them that day and it will be difficult again. Both teams will want to do well.”

Tottenham's previous win over Everton was an impressive one, with Mauricio Pochettino's side coming from behind to get the victory.

On Sunday they will not have home advantage, though, and that makes the challenge of beating Everton an even tougher one.

If Tottenham are able to beat the Merseyside outfit then they will be certain to finish in a Europa League qualification spot, but Dier has his sights set on fifth place.

Spurs can catch Liverpool if the Reds lose against Stoke City on the final day, and Dier is hoping that the Potters will do them a favour.

“Liverpool losing to Palace has opened the window for us a little to try to finish fifth so we’ll push for that and push for the win at Everton,” the England under-21 international concluded.
