Shevchenko: Gareth Bale should stay at Real Madrid and focus

The retired Ukrainian forward has stated that the Welshman should remain at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

Gareth Bale has found out that being the most expensive player in world football carries almost unattainable expectations, with the former Tottenham star having a rough ride at Real Madrid of late.

Following a successful inaugural campaign in Spanish football last term, where he scored in both the Champions League and Copa del Rey finals, the flying attacker has struggled to make a similar impression this year.

In 2015 Bale’s confidence appears to be low, with both the Spanish media and a section of the Madrid fans making him a scapegoat for the team’s underwhelming performances.

With questions over where the Wales international will play his football next season, Bale has received a word of advice from former Chelsea forward Andriy Shevchenko.

The retired Ukrainian was full of praise for Bale and stated that the attacker can become a success in the Spanish capital once more if he focuses.

"I think he just has to be quiet and find his best form," Shevchenko is quoted as saying by The BBC.

"He is a great player and if he decides to stay there, if he loves Real Madrid, then he should be quiet and focusing on his game.

"It's all about him, what he wants to do; if he decides to move it's all his decision."

Real Madrid are set to finish their 2014-15 season without silverware after Barcelona claimed La Liga and Carlo Ancelotti’s men were eliminated from the Champions League by Juventus.
