Robbie Savage has suggested in The Mirror that Manchester United should move for Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the summer transfer window.
The former Derby County and Leicester City midfielder believes that if United lose David de Gea to Real Madrid in the summer, then they should sign the France international.
Savage has also suggested Petr Cech, who has been the second-choice goalkeeper at Chelsea this season.
“It looks as if David De Gea is off to Real Madrid, so they will need a new goalkeeper,” the former Wales international wrote in The Mirror. “Chelsea’s exit-bound Petr Cech or Hugo Lloris of Tottenham would do for me.”
Cech and Lloris are two of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League, and either of them would be able replacements for Spain international De Gea.
However, it is unlikely that Chelsea will sell Cech to a Premier League rival. After all, manager Jose Mourinho will not want to strengthen a team who will be challenging them for the title.
Lloris is a more realistic target. Tottenham Hotspur will not play in the Champions League next season, and if United qualify for the group stage, then they could offer the Frenchman something that he has not experienced for three years.
