According to the Daily Mirror, Watford will make a move for Sassuolo star Sime Vrsaljko - leaving Ikechi Anya to depart, possibly to Celtic.
The Hornets recently won automatic promotion to the Premier League having finished second in the Championship, with manager Slavisa Jokanovic earning plenty of plaudits for his work at Vicarage Road this season.
Under the ownership of Udinese chief Giampaolo Pozzo, Watford have benefited by making signings from Italian football, with the likes of Gabriele Angella, Matej Vydra and Odion Ighalo all playing a bit part in Watford's promotion back to the top flight - and now they could swoop on Serie A again.
The Mirror believe that Watford will make a move for Sassuolo right back Vrsaljko, with the 23-year-old Croatian international viewed as a right wing back in Watford's system - which has a direct impact on the future of Anya, who has regularly played in that position.
Anya, 27, was born in Glasgow but has been through a crazy career, which has taken him to Halesowen Town, the Glenn Hoddle Academy, Sevilla, Celta Vigo and now back to English football with Watford.
The pacey wing back is now a Scotland international and, according to The Mirror, is a £4m target for Celtic ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Mirror now believe that, if Watford can land ex-Hornets defender Adrian Mariappa and Vrsaljko, then it will pave the way for Anya's exit - almost certainly to Celtic, based on recent speculation.
Celtic have seen wingers such as Aleksandar Tonev and Mubarak Wakaso struggle during loan spells this season, so adding speed in Anya - and another Scottish player to Ronny Deila's ranks - could be ideal for the Bhoys this summer.
