Sherwood has achieved his target of keeping Villa in the Premier League despite their 6-1 loss to Southampton last weekend, and now he can start to plan for this summer's transfer window.
Unfortunately for Sherwood, the summer is likely to be dominated by speculation surrounding the future of Belgian international Benteke, who has hit 12 goals in 14 games under Sherwood to spearhead Villa's survival bid.
The Mirror believe that Chelsea and Liverpool are hoping to prise Benteke away from Villa, which would obviously be a huge blow to Villa's hopes next season and beyond.
Yet the report also suggests that Sherwood has a potential replacement in mind - and it would involve a reunion with Emmanuel Adebayor.
The Togolese striker has played just 131 minutes of football for Tottenham since playing against Stoke in November, and it's widely expected that the former Arsenal man will leave White Hart Lane this summer in order to find first-team football.
Whilst Adebayor has endured limited success of late, one man who did get the best out of him at Spurs was Sherwood, who oversaw a scoring spree from the 31-year-old in the second half of last season.
It seems that Sherwood would be confident of doing the same again if he was able to lure Adebayor to Villa Park, with Sherwood reportedly hoping to reunite with Adebayor should Benteke leave the club before the start of next season.
