Atletico Madrid are interested in signing Christian Benteke from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window, according to Tuttomercatoweb.com.
It has been claimed by the Italian website that the Belgium international striker is on the wish-list of the Spanish club.
The 2014 Champions League runners-up are reported to be interested in signing Edison Cavani from Paris Saint-Germain, but they are also monitoring Benteke.
Benteke is one of the best strikers in the Premier League and has been in brilliant form for the past few weeks.
Under manager Tim Sherwood, the 24-year-old has regained his old touch and has scored important goals to help Villa retain their Premier League status for next season.
The former Genk star has scored 13 goals and created 32 chances in 28 league appearances this campaign.
Benteke has a pass accuracy of 66% and a shot accuracy of 45%, and he has won 183 headers, 16 dribbles and six tackles.
Moving to Atletico would be a step-up in the striker’s career, as he will be playing for a Champions League club in a very entertaining league.
According to Transfermarkt.co.uk, Benteke’s current contract with Villa runs out in June 2017, which means that the Premier League outfit are not going to sell him cheap.
The Mirror claims that Liverpool and Chelsea are interested in the services of Benteke as well.
