Ray Parlour suggests how Sherwood will approach Villa's final game

Former Arsenal star Ray Parlour explained how he expects Tim Sherwood to approach the club's final game of the season.

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour made a prediction over how he expects Aston Villa to approach their final game of the season against Burnley, as he appeared as a co-host on talkSPORT.

Parlour admitted that while Sherwood will have one eye on the FA Cup final, he may not make many changes to his best team because he’ll want the side to respond positively after a poor performance against Southampton last weekend.

Villa lost that match 6-1 and their confidence will have taken a big knock and it’s important they look to rectify that quickly.

“It was an awful result last weekend and Tim Sherwood will want them to forget about that and put in a good performance – They’ll be looking forward to that cup final,” he said.

“It won’t be an easy game for Arsenal because Villa will go there with Benteke as a goalscorer and they will always give him a chance.”

It’s a difficult situation for Sherwood and one where there isn’t a right or easy answer for the manager.

He could go full strength, but that risks fatigue and injury to his key players ahead of the cup final in a match with nothing riding on it.

However, if he makes changes and the team loses, then the belief in the side would have taken a real blow heading into the cup final on the back of two consecutive defeats.

Villa will definitely be trying to win the game because Sherwood won’t settle for anything less but he’s got to get the balance right to give his team the best possible chance of beating the Gunners.
