The Spaniard has enjoyed an impressive debut campaign at Old Trafford but is keen to improve.
The Spaniard has enjoyed an impressive first season in the Premier League, during which he initially struggled to adapt but has since become a key player in the heart of the United midfield.
He has also beaten his personal best goal return for a season having scored eight times throughout the course of his debut campaign, a decent return for a central midfield player.
Now, though, he has vowed to be even better next season.
“I am happy with my development,” he said.
“I have to keep improving and keep going, but eight goals for a midfielder is a good stat. I am an ambitious player so I want to keep improving.”
United have enjoyed a successful second half of the season after new manager Louis Van Gaal had initially struggled to settle upon a formation and line-up that worked.
He has, however, completed the remit of returning the Red Devils to the Champions League at the first time of asking, having secured a fourth-placed finish ahead of rivals Liverpool.
The Dutchman is expected to strengthen heavily in the summer, with many predicting that his side could be title contenders next season, and Herrera says the club are looking to improve again, leaving him excited to get going once more.
“Finishing in the top four was the first aim we had, but we are Man United and we have to fight for everything,” he said.
“I think we are looking forward to next season, I think we are going to play much better than this season and I am excited for it to begin.”
