Southampton centre-back Jose Fonte has told the club's official website that he was honoured to be voted the club’s Player of the Year.
The Portuguese international has been a rock in the side's backline, but things have not always been this good for him.
Fonte joined Southampton when they were a League One team, and he has loved being part of their remarkable rise to the top tier.
"I joined five years ago when we were in League One and the journey that we’ve been on together has been quite amazing,” Fonte said.
“Since the first minute I felt this was my home. I’ve found my place and the fact is that I’ve tried and I’ve improved every year, only with the help of these great supporters, all my teammates and the managers that I’ve had.”
Southampton have become the team that most lower-league sides in the country are trying to emulate.
They have risen through the divisions to become one of the leading teams in the top-flight, while still bringing through their own youth products.
It has been a hugely impressive ascent through the divisions and Southampton will be hoping to keep progressing further, as they look to break into the European spots.
