Former Chelsea player Frank Sinclair told talkSPORT what he feels Tim Sherwood can’t allow to happen ahead of the FA Cup final.
Sinclair was quizzed on the radio station over whether he felt Aston Villa had a chance of getting the better of Arsenal and he suggested it was possible, as long as Sherwood goes about the game in the right manner.
“Just as long as Villa go into it with the mentality that it’s brilliant playing at Wembley, but not a great place to lose at – The occasion can’t get to them and they have to go there and remember that they’re doing a job,” he said.
Sherwood has been careful to suggest it’s one game at a time, but minds will now start looking ahead to the final with the club’s Premier League status secure.
The club still have one game left to play before the final against Burnley this weekend, but the focus will quickly be on beating Arsenal at Wembley.
The Gunners have several players who are very experienced when it comes to playing in showpiece matches under real pressure.
They will be the favourites, but Villa have thrived under Sherwood when they have been written off and this could well turn out to be more of the same.
Sherwood has encouraged his team to play a no fear brand of football, which is based around their strengths.
He has to stress that again because it’s important Villa don’t become distracted by the size and occasion of playing at Wembley.
He did that perfectly in the FA Cup semi-final against Liverpool and hopefully it will be more of the same and the club can end the season with a real bang.
