England Under-21 boss: Harry Kane's mind-set is his biggest strength

The Tottenham Hotspur striker will be heading to the European Under-21 Championships this summer.

England Under-21s boss Gareth Southgate says Harry Kane's biggest strength is his mind-set, according to the Daily Express

The Tottenham forward has enjoyed a sensational breakthrough season at White Hart Lane and it has been his perseverance and determination to succeed despite being repeatedly overlooked that has taken him to new heights.

And Southgate feels Kane's mentality is second to none, singling it out at his biggest weapon - as opposed to his finishing, aerial ability or the like.

Southgate told reporters: "Goodness me his world’s changed enormously. He’s the pin-up boy and it’s a wonderful story and we hope this is the next part of it.

"If you speak to anybody who’s worked with him - that mentality and mind-set is probably his biggest strength."

Erik Lamela 2 7 57 54 6 2,209

As Opta stats show, Kane's Premier League season has been simply phenomenal. Needless to say, the Tottenham striker's goal tally has reached the 20-goal mark, while his four assists are not far off Spurs' highest assist-maker in Erik Lamela. Kane has also won 47 headers in total this term and 50 dribbles.

Naturally, though, Kane's game time this season has caught up with him, with the 21-year-old looking a little out of sorts of late. His involvement with England's Under-21s will naturally bring worries about his energy levels at the start of next campaign - as well as his ability to produce his best for his country after a long season in the limelight.
