Cristiano Ronaldo sends message to Steven Gerrard

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo, now at Real Madrid, has a message for departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Real Madrid forward Cristiano Ronaldo has sent a video message to Steven Gerrard via Liverpool’s official website.

Gerrard will leave Premier League outfit Liverpool at the end of the season when his current contract runs out.

The former England international midfielder is one of the best players to have ever featured in the English top flight.

Ronaldo, who joined Madrid from Manchester United in the summer of 2009, has wished Gerrard well in his future.

“Hello Steve, just to say it was a pleasure to play with you for many years when I played for Manchester United against Liverpool,” the 30-year-old said in a video message posted on Liverpool’s official Twitter page. “You are a fantastic player. I wish you all the best for your career and for your life.”

Gerrard will join Major League Soccer outfit Los Angeles Galaxy in the summer transfer window.

The 34-year-old has not had the best of seasons and has struggled for playing time throughout the campaign.

In 28 Premier League appearances, Gerrard has scored eight goals and created 49 chances, while having a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 50%.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo has been superb for Madrid this campaign, although he has failed to lead Los Blancos to La Liga title.

The Portugal international forward has scored 45 goals and created 72 chances in 34 league matches, while having a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 55%.
