Bundesliga expert Jan Age Fjortoft suggests Manchester United might get Bastian Schweinsteiger

The Bayern Munich veteran is being linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Yesterday it was reported that Manchester United were ready to swoop for Bayern Munich veteran Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The Daily Mail reported that Schweinsteiger, who played under Louis van Gaal at Bayern Munich, could be set to leave Bayern after struggling for form in recent times.

'Schweini' has been linked with United in the past and of course knows Louis van Gaal from their time at Bayern together.

He has played 109 times for Germany and has played in nearly 500 games for the club in a career spanning back to 1998.

Now one Bundesliga expert is suggesting the deal might happen.

Jan Age Fjortoft played for Swindon Town, Middlesbrough, Sheffield United and Barnsley during his five years in English football - gracing the Premier League during his time with Boro and The Tykes.

The 46-year-old Norwegian ended his playing days outside of his homeland in Germany, which led him to a career in German television.

He is best known for announcing the Mesut Ozil to Arsenal transfer before it was well known elsewhere.

He stated this on the topic of the German legend through his Twitter account yesterday.

Whether United would want to bring in a 30-year-old at this point in their development under Van Gaal remains to be seen.
