Christian Benteke has made waves on the pitch, and could cause waves off it, wherever he heads this summer.
Clearly, given all the recent speculation surrounding the future of Aston Villa striker, Christian Benteke, his future seems set to be heading away from Villa Park this summer.
According to the Mirror, Chelsea and Liverpool will go head to head, as favourites amongst the Premier League clubs interested, despite the reported £30 million asking price. Meanwhile, per TMW, Italian giants Roma are in hot pursuit, along with Atletico Madrid in Spain.
Whoever ultimately wins the race for Benteke, his choice of destination could also set in motion a frenzy of transfer activity, impacting numerous clubs around Europe.
Chelsea want a replacement for 37-year-old Didier Drogba, should he leave Stamford Bridge this summer. Along with an interest in Benteke, there's also growing speculation Mourinho is planning a swoop for PSG star, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
Liverpool appear to be preparing themselves, as contract rebel Raheem Sterling seems likely to depart Anfield. Clearly, the Reds will need to strengthen their attacking line, with Benteke earmarked as the ideal candidate.
Interestingly, Chelsea have also been linked with Sterling, which could mean any move in that direction, could affect their options of going for Benteke or Ibrahimovic.
Meanwhile, with Radamel Falcao almost certain not to be retained by Manchester United, after such a disappointing season, once more there's a 'Benteke' factor at play.
On the continent, France Football have indicated that Monaco are interested in Mario Mandzukic, and are willing to negotiate an exchange deal with Atletico Madrid, which would see Falcao offered in return, permitting 'El Tigre' a return to his most successful hunting ground of the past.
However, such a move could depend entirely on how serious Atletico boss Diego Simeone is planning, regarding his reported interest in the Aston Villa star. Essentially, the Spanish side wouldn't sign both Benteke and Falcao.
Confused yet? Well, there's another twist. Any move by Roma for Benteke, could also have further repercussions at Old Trafford. This based on reports by TMW that along with the Aston Villa man, the Italians are also in pursuit of Robin Van Persie.
Finally, there would be a pressing need for Villa boss Tim Sherwood to find a suitable replacement, if the Belgian international departs. HITC recently suggested some interesting candidates.
Whatever ends up happening, wherever Benteke chooses to go - if indeed he does leave Villa Park - any move is inevitably going to cause a lot of ripples in the European transfer market this summer.
