Arsenal player ratings against Sunderland: Wilshere and Ozil steal the show

Arsenal and Sunderland shared a 0-0 draw in the Premier League last night.

Arsenal were held to a 0-0 draw by a determined Sunderland team, which did enough to officially secure their safety in the Premier League for another season.

The Gunners huffed and puffed and had most of the game, but they couldn’t find that decisive strike with Costel Pantilimon pulling off a number of good saves.

Here are our ratings for the game.

Ospina – 7

Had a very good game in all areas and kept his concentration well throughout.

Bellerin – 7

His pace made him a real threat in the opening stages and defensively he looked good in terms of position.

Gibbs – 6

Passing was a little off at time and he struggled to make the most of the space he had, but he’s only just finding his way back.

Mertesacker – 6

Looked comfortable throughout and dealt well with any aerial threat Sunderland threw at the Gunners.

Koscielny – 6

Another reliable and solid performance although he was lucky to get away with a handball at one point during the game.

Cazorla – 6

Will be disappointed that he couldn’t put more of an end product on top of the time he had in possession.

Wilshere – 7

Looked strong, quick and agile and his passing also looked sharp. He looked like he could make things happen.

Ramsey – 6

Needless booking and seemed to get a little frustrated when things weren’t going his way.

Ozil – 8

Enjoyed more space when he drifted wider but looked a real threat throughout the game, creating a number of chances for his teammates to score.

Sanchez – 6

Starting to look a little leggy. Could do with a rest but Sunderland struggled with his skill on the ball.

Giroud – 6

Seven games without a goal for the Frenchman says it all. Worked hard but was simple for Sunderland to contain him.
