Uwe Rosler's comments on Leeds United's Neil Redfearn look quite incredible now

Leeds United are set to appoint Uwe Rosler as head coach... who just months ago said the club must stick with Neil Redfearn.

Uwe Rosler is expected to be named the next boss of Leeds United, as reported The Times late yesterday.

Current head coach Neil Redfearn has still not been officially told he is leaving, having steadied the club effectively this season after they appeared to be veering into a relegation battle.

Rosler was sacked by Wigan after 13 games, and with his appointment imminent, now is an ideal time to revisit comments he made about none other than Neil Redfearn earlier this season.

The German was working as a pundit for SkySports' screening of Leeds' 2-0 loss to Derby County in late December, and told the channel he felt the club must keep Neil Redfearn, despite them failing to win a game that month.

He said: "Neil Redfearn is exactly the right manager.

"They have young players. The majority of players are young and a lot of them came through his ranks. He knows how to handle the squad."

Rosler was proved correct by Redfearn that owner Massimo Cellino was right to stick with him, inspiring the side to a winning run.

Cellino clearly has other ideas for next season, and Rosler is a part of them. You can probably bet that the former Brentford boss did not expect to be lined up as Redfearn's replacement at the time, but his words look quite incredible now.
