Tottenham are keen on signing Bartra, who is available for cheap this summer.
As report by SPORT in Spain, 24-year-old defender Bartra is wanted by Tottenham this summer, and will be available for as little as €10 million.
Bartra currently plays for Barcelona, and his release clause is set at €50 million, having renewed his contract until 2017. However, part of that clause to to feature in at least 60% of Barca’s first-team games, a situation that has not happened.
This means that the centre-back’s release clause drops to €10 million, with a summer exit looking likely.
Tottenham attempted to sign Bartra before he agreed his new contract, according to the report, and it is claimed that they may reignite that interest this summer, with knowledge of the cheap deal available.
Bartra, who has been capped four times by Spain, has appeared in 24 games this term for the Catalan side, having now represented them 78 times overall.
His infrequent selections have opened the door for an exit from Camp Nou, and the SPORT story likens the Bartra situation to that of Thiago Alcantara, who signed for Bayern Munich in 2013.
He had not been selected as much as necessary to keep his release clause at it’s usual value, so it fell to €20 million, and Bayern swooped in to sign him.
