According to SoccerNews, PSV have entered the race to sign Godfred Donsah this summer, with West Ham also interested in the Cagliari midfielder.
It was reported by Calcio Mercato yesterday that Donsah was interesting West Ham, with the East London club keen to sign a defensive midfielder to replace Alex Song, who looks set to return to Barcelona when his loan deal expires.
The SoccerNews report claims that PSV are aware of the Hammers’ interest, and know that the Premier League is a more enticing prospect than the Eredivisie. However, the Dutch champions can offer Donsah Champions League football, and will start opening talks in the coming weeks hoping to entice him to the Netherlands.
Donsah is set to leave Cagliari this summer, following their relegation from Serie A, having proven that he has all the talent to impress at the top level.
Despite being just 18-years-old, he made 23 appearances this term, mainly as a deep lying midfielder, and winning recognition for his mature and physical appearances.
It is expected that Donsah will win international recognition from Ghana in the not too distant future, and he has certainly shown to be a great replacement for Alex Song.
If a move is to occur this summer, it is likely that Donsah’s decision will rest on whether he receives consistent playing time at either PSV or West Ham. Both clubs have their own benefits in relation to monetary status and reputation of the club, and Donsah is sure to move to the team with whom he is guaranteed to keep up his incredible development.
