Report: 'Prime' Tottenham target Schneiderlin stalls contract talks, Arsenal's interest has decreased

The Southampton midfielder has reportedly been told to make a decision on his future, with Tottenham interested but Arsenal less so.

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has stalled contract talks with the club amid revived interest from Tottenham Hotspur, according to the Daily Mail.

The Frenchman has been linked with Tottenham and Arsenal for a number of months now but the north London rivals are now said to be at different stages with regards to their interest in the Saints man.

Schneiderlin has reportedly been told by Southampton chiefs to make a decision on his future - and the Mail say Spurs have revived their interest in the 25-year-old, who is a 'prime target' for boss Mauricio Pochettino, now with greater control over transfers at White Hart Lane.

Arsenal, however, see Schneiderlin as 'less of a priority' due to the emergence of Francis Coquelin, even though some pundits feel the Southampton man would still work well within the Gunners' midfield.

Based on this latest development, then, it looks like a choice between staying at Southampton or joining Tottenham for the Frenchman - deja vu, anyone?

Reports have suggested a to and fro for some time, though, so we are bound to hear more and more about Schneiderlin's future, with Southampton, Spurs and Arsenal all none the wiser until any confirmation actually comes.
