Hull will take on United at the KC Stadium in the Premier League on Sunday and need to pick up all three points to have a chance of escaping the drop to the Championship.
The Tigers are third from bottom in the league table at the moment, two points behind Newcastle United and three behind Sunderland, who have a game in hand.
On the other hand, United are guaranteed of a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.
The Red Devils can still end up third, but with Arsenal having a game in hand and two points ahead of them, it is unlikely.
Former United midfielder Hargreaves believes that Hull can get the better of Louis van Gaal’s side at home.
“I think at home against Manchester United who have nothing to play for, they do have a chance,” the former England international said on the Football Tonight show on BT Sport on Monday.
“It’s exactly how Manchester United are going to approach the game, and if Hull are scared and nervous, then there will be problems. They need to embrace the occasion and take it head-on.”
If Arsenal win against Sunderland at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League this evening, then they will secure a top-three finish.
It will leave United with nothing to play for on the final day, and manager Van Gaal could decide to play some of the young and fringe players.
That will certainly play in Hull’s favour, who should be heading into the game with confidence as they are at home and can still retain their Premier League status for next season.
