Former Celtic manager Liam Brady: Newcastle United deserve to be relegated

Newcastle Utd - Gate

Newcastle United, Sunderland and Hull City are all in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.

Former Celtic manager Liam Brady has told BT Sport that Newcastle United deserve to get relegated from the Premier League.

The Magpies are 17th in the league table at the moment with 36 points from 37 matches at the moment, just two points above third-from-bottom Hull City and one behind Sunderland, who have a game in hand.

John Carver’s side have lost nine of their last 10 league matches, and former Arsenal midfielder Brady believes that Newcastle deserve to go down.

“Yes,” the former Republic of Ireland international said on the Football Tonight show on BT Sport on Monday when asked if Newcastle deserve to go down.

“I think any team that can only manage one point from their last 10 games, going from the platform that they had - 27 points and sitting above half-way (- deserve to go down).”

Brady’s comments about Newcastle are harsh, but he does have a very good point.

The Magpies have been arguably the worst team in the Premier League over the past couple of months.

Not only have Newcastle’s results been poor, but their performances have also been disappointing and have left much to be desired.

However, there is still a good chance that the Magpies will escape the drop. If Carver’s side win against West Ham United at St. James’ Park on Sunday, then they will retain their Premier League status for the 2015-16 campaign.
