Former Nottingham Forest boss Stuart Pearce believes that Chelsea and Swansea City have had excellent seasons.
Former Nottingham Forest manager Stuart Pearce has told TalkSPORT that he would give Jose Mourinho the Manager of the Season award.
Mourinho has guided Chelsea to the Premier League and the League Cup, and Pearce has been impressed by the job the Portuguese boss has done.
Pearce says that Mourinho deserves a lot of credit for building such a strong squad at Stamford Bridge and believes he deserves all the praise he is getting right now.
“I’m a great lover of people who win things and Mourinho has won the league by a large amount of points,” he said.
“Eight points is a big gap and they still have a game in hand; they’ve done fanatically well.
“He’s also won the League Cup as well, he’s won two trophies this season and that, for me, makes him Manager of the Year."
Pearce also felt that Swansea City boss Garry Monk should have been given more praise for the job he has done.
Monk has guided Swansea into the upper echelons of the Premier League table, despite losing Wilfried Bony, and the ex-England Under-21 manager thinks that he has coped well this season.
“Closely behind him, I think Garry Monk has had a fantastic season at Swansea. He’s new to management but he’s done brilliantly," he said.
“I was unsure about how they would fare this season to be honest but, and baring in mind they sold their top scorer and record signing Wilfried Bony in January, Swansea have done really well.”
Monk certainly has done an impressive job, with Swansea set to finish in eighth place having pulled off some notable scalps this season.
They have defied expectations this term and the hope will be that they can push on again next season, when they will be looking to claim a European spot.
