Belfodil is currently without a club, but West Ham have been linked with signing him this season.
Andrea D’Amico said: “We have several options in Italy and abroad. We will analyse these options carefully and as soon as possible. At this time, after the experience at Parma, would want a quality project.”
Belfodil is currently without a club, having been released from his Parma contract following their relegation from Serie A, and their ongoing financial troubles.
His agent speaks of needing a ‘quality project’ ahead of next season, and that likely relates to the Parma situation, and the need for Belfodil to have a secure contract with a club whom are guaranteed their financial future.
West Ham are certainly this club, and if they return to the 23-year-old forward in the summer, they will be signing an international striker on a free transfer, making him a budget option as they look to improve the depth of their squad.
However, doubts still remain over Belfodil’s true ability, and even if available for free, the Hammers would do well to properly assess the striker.
In 105 career games, Belfodil, a striker, has scored just 10 goals. Despite this poor form, he has earned international caps for Algeria, and has scored twice for his country in 12 games.
Belfodil has shown flashes of talent in his short career, but he will have to show a lot to impress this summer if he intends to earn a playing contract ahead of the new season.
