It appears Tottenham Hotspur could be set to miss out on one of their reported targets this summer.
Simone Zaza has been linked with a potential summer move to White Hart Lane, but London 24 has published comments the sporting director of his current club Sassuolo gave to Sky Italia this week.
“We’re looking around for a possible replacement,” Giovanni Carnevali said. “Juventus want him.”
The report also claims Zaza turned down a move to Tottenham earlier this season as he was holding out for a move to Turin, and if the latest comments are to be believed, he may soon get that wish.
Zaza has scored 10 goals in 32 matches for Sassuolo this season and he has a total of 19 in 67 appearances for the club.
While that is not exactly form to set the heart racing, the 23-year-old has blossomed this season and he has netted against AC Milan, Roma, Inter Milan and Juventus themselves, proving he has what it takes to score against the best Italy has to offer.
There is no doubt Tottenham need a new forward to support or act as back-up for Harry Kane, with Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado both falling short in that regard this season.
But it appears Zaza will not be their man, even if his current side are looking to bring in a replacement in preparation for his likely departure.
