The agent of Liverpool player Raheem Sterling, Aidy Ward, gave a statement to the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show for talkSPORT where he suggested stories over his client’s future had ‘somewhat’ been blown out of proportion.
The BBC is among the sources to have reported the news that Sterling has apparently made it clear to Liverpool that he won’t be staying at Anfield beyond the two years he’s got remaining on his current contract.
A meeting is scheduled for later this week, which will provide the next platform for all parties to communicate over the matter as they look to reach a conclusion, which will either see Sterling commit himself to staying at the club or the club commit to moving him on.
Sterling is reported to have been in talks with the club over a new deal for an extended period of time, with the delay in signing likely to be down to any number of factors, which are up for negotiation.
Liverpool and the player need to provide some clarity and quickly so that all parties involved can move on.
