According to equip.si, Vukic is wanted by Olympiakos this summer, as they strengthen ahead of next season’s Champions League campaign.
The Greek champions won a record 42nd title this season, and manager Vitor Pereira has already started planning ahead of next term, including scouting Vuckic during Rangers’ 1-1 draw with Queen of the South at Ibrox in the Championship play-off quarter final.
Vuckic failed to score in that game, despite playing the full 90 minutes, but that is not representative of his incredible stay in Scotland since moving north of the border on loan in the January transfer window.
He has made 18 appearances for the Gers, scoring nine goals, and has shown a real talent in front of goal not usually expected of a midfielder. He has far surpassed any appearances he had made during his time with Newcastle, and with one year left on his contract at St James’ Park, his future is still in doubt.
It is clear that the 22-year-old Slovenian international wants to be playing consistent football, and that is available with Rangers. He will return to the Magpies at the end of this campaign, and if no guarantees can be made concerning his playing time, it would be no surprise to see him force a move away from Tyneside in the summer.
Rangers would be a possible destination for Vuckic, but with Olympiakos circling, and their allures of Champions League football, he may want to secure the move to Greece to ensure that his career starts progressing.
