According to a report in talkSPORT, Everton are keen on signing Nolito, who has a £13 million release clause in his contract.
The once-capped Spanish international has been in fine form for the La Liga outfit this term, scoring 12 goals and registering 12 assists in 35 games.
This form has been the best of his career so far, and it is no surprise that he has been drawing admiring glances from the Premier League.
Everton are prime club linked with signing Nolito this summer, but the £13 million release clause in his contract could prove a stumbling block. Celta have no desire to sell their star winger, and the Toffees may struggle to match the clause, which is incredibly high for a 28-year-old - regardless of his current form.
Able to play on both the right and left side, Nolito is being targeted by Roberto Martinez ahead of a major revamp of his wide positions this summer, with many players expected to leave Goodison Park.
Kevin Mirallas’s future is still in doubt, whilst Christian Atsu and Aaron Lennon will return to their parent clubs at the expiration of their loans, with no decision yet made on their permanent futures.
Nolito would add undoubted top level talent to Martinez’s ranks, as well as a wealth of experience, but he may prove to be too expensive for the club to sign.
If a deal can be struck with Celta to sign him for less than his release clause then Everton may consider a move, but with four years remaining on his contract, and the La Liga club with no desire to sell, it is likely that the Toffees will be looking elsewhere for transfer targets this summer.
