Report: Everton interested in Manchester United's Jonny Evans

Manchester United 3

Manchester United defender Jonny Evans has struggled with injuries and form the last two years and Louis van Gaal may decide it's time to cash in on him.

According to David McDonnell of the Mirror, Jonny Evans could leave Manchester United for Everton this summer in a deal worth up to £10million.

Evans has endured two tough seasons at Manchester United under managers David Moyes and Louis van Gaal. It has all been down to loss of form, injuries and a six-match ban for spitting.

The spitting incident was very much out of character for Evans, who many involved at Manchester United would describe as a model professional.

In terms of form, Evans has gone completely backwards since Sir Alex Ferguson's retirement. Once upon a time United fans thought he would one day cement a spot in the starting eleven, but now that looks increasingly unlikely.

Even the Old Trafford faithful have lost patience with Evans and the thought of signing a truly world-class defender this summer is mouth-watering.

The Northern Ireland defender has made just 17 appearances for the Red Devils this season and has fallen behind Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Marcos Rojo and Paddy McNair in the defensive pecking order.

Louis van Gaal is also reportedly interested in Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummelsper the Daily Mail - and Valencia's Nicolas Otamendiper the Daily Star - which will only push Evans further down the list and, at the age of 27-years-old, he needs to be playing regularly.
