The Liverpool man says a season playing with the departing legend is one he'll never forget.
The Liverpool captain is set to depart for the MLS at the end of the season after agreeing a deal with LA Galaxy, bringing an end to his lifelong association with the club.
Last Saturday’s 3-1 loss to Crystal Palace was his last ever game at Anfield as a Liverpool player, and was an emotional occasion, with tributes naturally flooding in from all angles.
Lallana is the latest to join those praising Gerrard, explaining how one year in his company is something he’ll never forget.
“He's a player I've looked up to my whole life,” he said.
“Although I've only played a season with him, it has meant everything to me. Having the chance to play with him is something I'll tell my kids and hopefully my grandkids later on in life.”
The final home game was an emotional one for the departing captain as the whole Anfield crowd stood in appreciation for their departing hero.
The game was not as expected though, with Palace deciding to spoil the party once again for the Reds, having also ruined their title chances the year before.
Despite the result being poor though, Lallana says the send off was perfect and the team will be looking to end his final game at Stoke with a win.
“It was a special day for him and the only disappointing thing was the result, he added.
“But it's still in our hands to go to Stoke and win. It was a great send-off for Stevie, the fans have had their moment with him and he's had the moment with the fans. What a great man."
