Former England man Danny Murphy feels Sam Allardyce will be out to prove a point this weekend.
West Ham could setup Newcastle’s relegation into the Championship on the final day of the season and it will be interesting to see how Allardyce urges his team to go about the match based on their recent performances.
“I think Big Sam will want to go and prove a point there for two reasons; one because it’s his old team and they sacked him and two because he’s such good mates with Steve Bruce,” he said.
The circumstances surrounding Allardyce’s departure from Newcastle may have left a bitter taste in his mouth ever since and equipped with a need for West Ham to produce more positive performances, the Hammers could take some real determination into the game.
Hull are the other side that could go down to the Championship and if they do their job and win their match against Manchester United, things are going to be extremely tense around St James’s Park in the closing seconds.
Allardyce would never admit that he’s keen to get one over on Newcastle and will stay professional in the build up to the game.
He’ll trust West Ham’s squad to win the key match ups all over the pitch and if the individual duels go their way, they should get the three points which puts a spring in the step of the side over the summer, improving Allardyce’s position in terms of talks over a new contract.
