Chelsea fans react on Twitter to Ruben Loftus-Cheek's performance v West Brom

Chelsea teenager Ruben Loftus-Cheek played in midfield against West Brom on Monday night.

Chelsea handed a start to young talent Ruben Loftus-Cheek against West Brom and he was one of their few players to impress.

The reigning champions were defeated 3-0 at the Hawthorns, and Loftus-Cheek's job was made tougher by an early red card for midfield teammate Cesc Fabregas.

Loftus-Cheek, 19, was making his second Premier League start of the season, having played an hour against Liverpool a week ago.

He featured for 72 minutes against West Brom and acquitted himself well, even if it was not a night he will remember positively from a result perspective.

The teenager touched the ball 85 times, and completed 92 per cent of his passes. During a tough away game in which his side lost, the statistics stand up well to his credit.

He created one goalscoring chance, while having one shot on goal which landed off target. He did not make a single tackle but did make one interception.

Loftus-Cheek's display was enough to offer Chelsea fans encouragement that he can make the step up from their youth system and play a role next season.

With Izzy Brown, Dominic Solanke and Nathan Ake on the cusp too, he is not the only one, but he does appear to be the player at the forefront of Jose Mourinho's mind.

Here is a look at how fans reacted to his performance against West Brom...
