HITC Sport understands Wigan are eyeing a move for Rotherham defender Craig Morgan as they look to bolster their defensive options next season.
HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club that Wigan are hoping to land Rotherham defender Craig Morgan on a free transfer this summer.
Morgan is out of contract at the New York Stadium next month and although he has been offered fresh terms he has yet to sign a new deal at the South Yorkshire outfit.
Wales international Morgan has established himself as a key man for Rotherham since joining the club on a free transfer from Preston in the summer of 2012.
The 29-year-old helped the club win successive promotions from League Two to the Championship and was instrumental in securing survival in the second tier this term despite being hit by a three point deduction for fielding an ineligible player.
Wigan are now hoping to lure Morgan to the DW Stadium as they plan to build a side capable of winning promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.
A number of stars are expected to leave Wigan in the wake of their relegation and Gary Caldwell sees Morgan's leadership qualities and experience as a key addition to his squad for next season.
