Claudio Yacob starred as West Bromwich Albion pulled off a surprise yet deserved win over Chelsea on Monday night.
The Baggies rarely looked troubled by the champions, 1-0 up through a Saido Berahino goal even before Cesc Fabregas was sent off in the first half.
Yacob was a powerhouse in central midfield, outclassing the highly rated Nemanja Matic, and showing signs of recapturing his best form.
The Argentine was a smart free agent addition three years ago under Steve Clarke, but the 27-year-old's future is uncertain, with his contract set to expire in June.
The midfielder's performance showed how crucial signing him to a new deal will be to West Brom's progression, certainly if he is able to replicate his performance against Chelsea.
Injuries have restricted Yacob to only 19 Premier League appearances this season, but the club do have a good chance of retaining him.
The Birmingham Mail reported last week that West Brom hold a first option to extend Yacob's current deal, while assistant head coach Dave Kemp stated that talks were underway with out of contract players, although the South American was not named specifically.
Yacob completed 98 per cent of his passes in the win over Chelsea, and made eight tackles, more than any other player.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to his performance...
