Steven Reid to retire at the end of the season

Burnley

Steven Reid, now at Burnley, has played for Millwall, Blackburn Rovers and West Bromwich Albion in his long career.

Burnley defender Steven Reid has announced that he will hang up his boots at the end of the season.

The 34-year-old made the announcement on social networking site Twitter just a few minutes ago.

Reid has been on the books of Burnley since the summer of 2014, having been released by West Bromwich Albion at the end of the 2013-14 campaign.

The former Republic of Ireland international failed to make a huge impact at the Clarets this season, though, making just six appearances in the Premier League.

In those six matches, Reid has a pass accuracy of 78% and has won three headers and five tackles.

Reid started his career at Millwall and switched to Blackburn Rovers in 2003. In 2010, he made a permanent move to West Brom.

Burnley, who gained promotion to the Premier League last season, have been relegated to the Championship.

The Clarets will face Aston Villa away from home at Villa Park in the final game of the 2014-15 Premier League campaign on Sunday.
