Report: Remi Garde cools interest in Newcastle United managerial job

Garde has been linked with taking charge of Newcastle, but he has reportedly ruled himself out of the running.

According to a report in the Chronicle, Garde has cooled his interest in taking charge of Newcastle this summer, having seen their dreadful end to the Premier League campaign.

The Magpies are currently on a run of 10 games without a win, nine of those being losses, and this poor form has seen the Frenchman - who is currently out of work - decide against opening talks with the Tyneside club.

Garde is just one of many linked managers to have ruled themselves out of the job, with the same report naming Steve McClaren, David Moyes and Christophe Galtier as all stating their futures lie with different clubs.

This has left John Carver as the only man truly in the running for an appointment, but the current interim boss has done little to stake a claim for the role.

His management of on-pitch matters has been disastrous, and his rather outspoken attempt at man management has brought him some real criticism.

With the season drawing to a close next week, Newcastle will have to act quickly if they intend to appoint a manager before the pre-season starts in earnest, although it is now likely they will hold off talking with anyone before they know which division they will be playing in next season.
