Arsenal's Theo Walcott and Alexis Sanchez named among 10 fastest players in the world

Two Arsenal players have made the list of the speediest players on the planet with a Manchester United man taking top spot.

The Metro has published the results of a FIFA study to reveal the fastest footballer in the world this season.

It will make for particularly interesting reading for Arsenal fans, with two Gunners players making the top 10 but with one notable omission.

Spanish full-back Hector Bellerin recently broke Theo Walcott’s 40 metre sprint record and yet it is the England international who has recorded the faster time on the pitch this season.

Walcott has been clocked reaching a top speed of 32.7km/h, making him the fifth fastest player on the planet according to the study.

So if Bellerin does not make the list, who is the other Arsenal player to make the top 10?

That honour goes to summer signing Alexis Sanchez, with the Chilean maestro clocking in at 30.1km/h to take the final spot on the list.

Manchester United winger-cum-full-back Antonio Valencia is the fastest player on the list with a top recorded speed of 35.1km/h.

Bellerin showed just how fast he is in a wonderful moment of tracking back when Arsenal faced United at the weekend, and while the Spaniard did not make this list, it surely cannot be long before he is recording times on the pitch to equal those of many in the current top 10.

The list in full is: 1. Antonio Valencia 2. Gareth Bale 3. Aaron Lennon 4. Cristiano Ronaldo 5. Theo Walcott 6. Lionel Messi 7. Wayne Rooney 8.Franck Ribery 9. Arjen Robben 10. Alexis Sanchez
