Nicklas Bendtner is not guaranteed to make an appearance at The Emirates this summer.
His current club Wolfsburg have been named as one of three sides set to contest The Emirates Cup with hosts Arsenal, along with Lyon and Villareal.
The controversial striker is somewhat of a cult figure due to his carefree attitude and 'Lord Bendtner' nickname, and fans reacted with merriment to potential news of seeing him take on the Gunners in the pre-season tournament.
There is a reason fans should not count their chickens regarding Bendtner however: He may not even be playing for Wolfsburg by time the tournament takes place.
The Wolfsburg Allgemaine reported that he was not present in a 23-man Wolfsburg squad which took part at a fan event at the weekend, with the striker blaming a 'sore throat'.
He was the only first team player missing from the 160-km round trip, and the paper hint Bendtner will depart Wolfsburg this summer.
Danish outlet BT are far more adamant. They claim the striker is 'finished' at the club, with coaching staff 'shaking their heads' at a lack of application in training sessions.
It is claimed by BT that FC Copenhagen are attempting to sign the attacker, given his likely availability this summer.
Fans should not expect to see Bendtner at The Emirates Cup next summer unless he is in the stands watching as a fan, or clinches an unlikely move to Lyon or Villareal.
