Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin is happy to see Darwin Jones make his MLS debut for the Seattle Sounders.

Tottenham Hotspur defender DeAndre Yedlin has taken to social networking site Twitter to congratulate Darwin Jones on making his debut for the Seattle Sounders.

Jones played his first Major League Soccer game this weekend, when he came on as a substitute against the Vancouver Whitecaps away from home at the BC Place.

The 23-year-old forward came in place of Lamar Neagle in the 85th minute of the contest, which ended in a 2-0 win for the Sounders.

Yedlin, who played with Jones in the youth team at the Sounders, was delighted to see his former teammate take a big step towards a successful career.

Yedlin signed for Tottenham in the summer of 2014, but he remained at the MLS outfit until January.

Much is expected of the USA international right-back, but he has yet to make his mark at White Hart Lane.

The 21-year-old has featured just once in the Premier League since his arrival at Spurs - a 1-0 defeat to Aston Villa at home in April.
