Everton are interested in signing Nani from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.
It has also been reported that Everton are interested in signing United youngster Adnan Januzaj, but their main target is Nani.
Nani is currently on loan at Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon, but he is due to return to United at the end of the season.
The 28-year-old failed to convince Red Devils manager Louis van Gaal and was sent out on loan to his former club in the summer of 2014.
The Portuguese star has done quite well at Sporting and has recovered his form, but it remains to be seen if Van Gaal still has him in his plans for next season.
Nani’s current contract with United runs out in June 2018, and one suspects much will depend on what he wants to do.
Everton sign Aaron Lennon on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, and it seems that manager Roberto Martinez wants to make use of another Premier League outcast.
Lennon struggled to get playing time at Spurs in the first half of the season, but at the Toffees the former Leeds United winger has scored two goals and created 14 chances in 14 Premier League appearances.
Signing Nani on a season-long loan deal will be much cheaper than paying transfer fee for a winger, and given the Portuguese’s exploits in the Premier League, one can understand why Martinez is interested in him.
