Report: Derby County interested in Brentford’s Jota

Derby County Huddle

Brentford attacking midfielder Jota is reportedly on the radar of Championship rivals Derby County.

Derby County are interested in signing Jota from Championship rivals Brentford in the summer transfer window, according to The Sun.

The British tabloid claims that the Rams are willing to spend as much as £2 million in transfer fee on the attacking midfielder.

Jota joined Brentford from Spanish club Celta de Vigo in the summer of 2014 and established himself as one of the most important players for the Bees.

The 23-year-old scored 11 goals and created 56 chances in 43 Championship appearances in the 2014-15 campaign.

The Spaniard had a pass accuracy of 79% and a shot accuracy of 59%, and he won 12 headers, 54 dribbles and 34 tackles.

Derby finished eighth in the Championship with 77 points from 46 matches, missing out on a playoff spot by just a point.

Brentford ended the ‘regular’ season in fifth spot and featured in the playoffs, where they failed to get the better of Middlesbrough.
